Word Vagabond is:
Alexis Arendt, Editor and Reviewer: Alexis is a voracious reader and freelance editor who is passionate about the world of independent publishing. She has a B.A. in English from St. Bonaventure University and is the former editor of the independently published Sword literary magazine and the peer-reviewed academic journal Cithara. She currently lives in Virginia with her husband, two cats, and two cute and troublesome daughters. Her hobbies include knitting, watching Doctor Who and English football, drinking tea, and trying to stay sane. Her e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Suzanne Lahna, Editor: Suzanne is an eager reader and a passionate editor, combining her BA in professional writing with wit and sarcasm to tackle the challenges in the publishing industry today. She loves to blog about everything from great reads to the latest changes in the writer’s market, and attends publishing conferences in the Northeast whenever she can. Floor manager for a used book store by day, editor and formatter by night, she strives to keep her finger on the pulse of the publishing industry to help authors not only finish their book, but sell it too. Suzanne currently lives in Worcester, MA in a charming old Colonial with close friends and crazy cats. While she’ll happily edit anything from paranormal romance to scholarly non-fiction, she would love to get her hands on more SF/FA (tackling problems with world building is her specialty) and anything with action and adventure (she knows way too much about guns for someone who doesn’t own any). Her e-mail address is email@example.com.
Margaret Bishop, Contributing Reviewer: Margaret has a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Australia, but devotes all her time doing the opposite of her degree. She’s worked on the committees as both contributor and editor for five volumes of creative writing publications at UniSA and Flinders University Writers’ Club. She’s passionate about reading and the arts, loves bad horror movies, Batman, live music, and joining the ranks of the undead as a zombie for charity. Margaret thrives on genre fiction, particularly horror and sci-fi/fantasy, and is excited by stories that create new and mixed sub-genres of these. Being a responsible adult is (mostly) just a very clever disguise.
Jeannelle D’Isa, Contributing Reviewer: Jeannelle is an editor and author. She lives in Maryland with her wife and daughter. Most recently, her work has appeared in The Moment of Change: An Anthology of Feminist Speculative Poetry (Acqueduct Press). She is always running out of things to read.
Manda Disley, Contributing Reviewer: Manda has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Fitchburg State University and loves books more than anything. She lives in a small apartment in central Massachusetts with her best friend and two cats while she works on her writing and probably watches too many TV shows. Her taste in books ranges from fantasy to historical fiction, and she can mostly be found reading young adult lit featuring monster girls and probably a lot of magic.
Lisa Metlak, Contributing Reviewer: Mild-mannered legal secretary by day/wild copy editor by night, Lisa enjoys reading books that take her away from reality. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Medaille College, but her real loves are her family, the written word and the theatre. She regularly ghost writes articles on various topics for websites throughout the English-speaking world and is a sucker for proofreading documents, which her friends have discovered and regularly abuse. When not working her bread-and-butter job, Lisa enjoys spending time with her three beautiful boys and husband, reading and writing, and watching the amazing creations produced by Joss Whedon.
Stephanie Nagle, Contributing Reviewer: Stephanie loves to read! She has a B.A. in English from Virginia Tech, a B.A. in Theatre Arts from George Mason University, and an M.B.A. in Management from Strayer University. She has done everything from teaching high school English and Journalism to working as a Stage Manager in multiple D.C. theatres. Currently, she is a manager at an I.T. company. It pays the bills so she can read more books! Stephanie currently lives in Centreville with her adorable, loving, mischievous daughter and two cats.
Jon C. Oliver, Contributing Reviewer: Jon holds a BA in Social Science (Political Science) from the State University of NY College at Buffalo, as well as course work in Social Science and History from the University of Maryland and University of Buffalo. He divides his time, as best he can, between a house in Buffalo, NY and granddaughters in Fredericksburg, VA, using an apartment in Harrisburg, PA as a base. When not in the car, he contributes reviews of books by independent authors, while trying to produce a book of his own. Jon enjoys reading mysteries, suspense, history, biography and selected science fiction (time travel) and fantasy.
Matt Schiariti, Contributing Reviewer: Matt (don’t bother trying to pronounce the last name; many have tried, few have succeeded) is a well-documented bibliophile. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and works as an engineer for the government. When he’s not working he’s either reading, drinking beers with funny names, playing his guitar in Madison Square Basement (fun fact: Matt was actually a part-time gigging musician for a time. If you’re intrepid, you may even find him on YouTube), spending time with friends and family or hammering away on his keyboard, trying to put random letters together into some type of cogent order. Matt has a short story set to actually see the light of day soon and is currently working on books of his own. He’s convinced said books aren’t fit for a prison library so he’s not quitting his day job any time soon. Born and bred, he currently lives in southern New Jersey with his wife, daughter, crazy dog, three hermit crabs , a newly adopted guinea pig and has a son arriving in early 2013.
Cynthia Shepp, Contributing Reviewer: Cynthia has always had a passion for books. From a very young age she knew that she wanted to grow up to be the person that got to read the books first. She has a special fondness for independent authors as she applauds the gumption to realize your dreams on your own. She is in her last year of college working her way towards a B.A. in English Literature from Grand Canyon University. She has spent her time in school editing term papers and short stories on Wattpad. She has had poems and articles published, but would rather edit than write. She has a personal blog where she reviews books, focusing on indie authors. She loves all genres of books, but if she had to pick a favorite or two she would pick paranormal and post-apocalyptic novels. She loves living in the worlds that authors create, even if only for a short time. Cynthia lives in Alabama with her husband and three rambunctious, but adorable, children ranging in age from one to seven. Her dream allows her to stay at home with her children, doing a job she loves, and being the mom she wants to be at the same time. She enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and pretending to enjoy Auburn Tiger football with her husband.
